I moved to McAllen from El Paso. There was much more to do in El Paso as far as I was concerned. There were all kinds of local festivals at local wineries, fairs, Old Mesilla, Ruidoso, skiing, casinos, etc. I'm not into clubs, but I had friends that were, most of them in El Paso were of the upscale variety. Here in the valley every weekend there is a stabbing or shooting at some dive. That rarely happened in El Paso.

El Paso sounds much more fun than Mcallen! Mcallen and El Paso are around the same size in metropolitan population of 700,000. So do you like Mcallen now that you are living there?

i also moved from el paso to mcallen. ep definetely has alot more in entertainment options over mcallen. not to mention el paso is ranked 2nd safest largest city in the nation. if you're into outdoor activities el paso has a lot more options in that aspect as well.

It's all right. One of the good things is it's a quick flight to Houston or even just a 4 hour drive to the Hill Country. Oh--the food was MUCH better in El Paso, too. The people were also much friendlier and the drivers much safer. But I just try to make the best of it here.

El Paso BY FAR, then Laredo, Brownsville, McAllen.

El Paso is a major city. It's historic. got lots to do. Way better food. Nightlife is good... the area around UTEP has turned really cool lately.

I think El Paso is more "southerwestern" or western in culture...the side of Texas is so far removed from everything else within the state...not that the other cities aren't, but they are closer to Houston, SA and Austin.

I think the valley is the best due to it's location near the Gulf and the rest of the state, in addition to Monterrey in Mexico. EP would be better if you are into mountains, skiing and SW culture imo.

PS, the crime is not that bad in McAllen...
