Default Texas town with the best weather.

Excluding El Paso are there any other towns or cities in Texas that have low humidity, mild winters and summer temps that top off at around 90 degrees maximum?

The towns near El Paso. For great weather in Texas, it's pretty much El Paso.

CptRn,

I checked out both towns and they appear to be much smaller with less conveniences then I would need. They are also too far from a major city. Thaks for the reply.

malamute,

I've been to El Paso and I didn't like it.

My search continues.

I would look to the areas north and northeast of the DFW metro if you're looking for proximity to ammenities and weather that comes closest to what you describe.

Heading north (Plano; Sherman) it will be more dry, but heading northeast (Texarkana) towards the Arkansas border you will run into some humidity (not Houston humid, though..more like Atlanta humid).

Lubbock and Amarillo are pretty close. They both are fairly dry with average highs of 92 in July and average lows in the mid 20s in January (I don't know if you would consider that mild).

I honestly don't think there is a place anywhere in Texas that tops off at 90 degrees maximum with the never-ending summers.

Due to its location, San Antonio alternates from being very dry to very humid. Either way, I think it's safe to say that the OP wouldn't like SA.

People think Houston's summers are rough, well SA's summers were pretty uncomfortable to me when I lived there. Not only does it get as humid as Houston, but the temperature is usually consistently higher. And while I've never lived in Houston, I did use to live in Beaumont (about an hour east), and I can't remember the heat being all that unbearable.

Of the major cities, I honestly think San Antonio has the worst weather.

Sorry, I have to disagree. I have lived just outside of Houston for 6 years now. My sister lives in San Antonio, so I go there a lot to visit. It is nowhere near as humid as Houston. Yes, they do have hot summers just like Houston does, but it is less humid there.

To the OP, the Marfa area is about the only place besides I guess Amarillo that you will find the temps you are looking for, and the wonderful dry climate. I lived in Marfa for three years and I loved it. Yes, it is very remote, but wonderful weather, scenery and people.
Good luck with your search!
