I'll move into Edinburg area in a couple of months. I'll live in dorm inside UTPA or at Veranda Apartment(I didn't decide yet). By the way, my concern is about biking at night in the University of Texas Pan American. I'm going to take evening classes and will be finished around 9:55 pm. I'm so worried about safety overthere because I read many blogs that said this area is not too safe. Should I bike at night inside the university? Can I just walk back from classes to my apartment when I finish my classes? or I should buy a car instead? Thanks

Default Super Safe

It is extremely safe to walk or bike at any hour of the night at the university and you should not worry at all. Their is a 24 hour computer lab and you will often see students studying all night. Their are police officers nearby in case something ever does happen.

I go to UTPA, and yes it is safe to ride a bike there at night. My wife has been going there for years, she's only 5'7 and like 135lbs, she always walks to her car at night and has never had even a little problem. She has many friends, and has never heard of any stories about it being unsafe.

There is too much pigeon poop though(I hate the stuff), watch out for that, it'll get on your bycycle tires and what not.

I'll also say it is safe, but in case you don't feel safe you can call the univ police department and they will walk you! I haven't heard from anyone living at Vernanda but I've heard from the dorms. The old ones are disgusting and too expensive for what they offer, the cafeteria food is BAD too. The new dorms seem to be nicer but I know they always have staffing problems. Good luck with your move!

Hello, My name is Jacek and I plan on moving to Edinburgh from London soon. Are there - as in every big city - less safe areas ? Look forward to your comments Thank you
