I agree, Asian languages are becoming pretty dominant in ways in Cities like Dallas and Houston so maybe we should be multi lingual.

Talking Language

I agree with--we should be made to learn more languages. This should start at the earliest school age. There are many other countries that teach children at the very young age to be multi-lingual. With the world population growing and growing, and many countries becoming more and more diverse. I truly believe that even the most educated person should even know Spanish.

By having signs and translations in Spanish, the USA is just encouraging Spanish as a second language.

Many countries (i.e., South Korea, Sweden) require that you learn a second language. I believe the USA should mandate that our students learn a second language of choice.

No. In most of Texas, there are major companies and industries with a strong Anglo influence. There are rural and isolated areas close to the border that have high percentages of Hispanics and Spanish influence, but there isn't a creep of this per se. What happens is there is direct migration to many areas and over time, the second generation assimilates the mainstream U.S. culture. Even in the Rio Grande Valley you have a lot of Hispanics whose first language is English. In Dallas and Houston you have many more.

I think the Hispanic influence in Texas will continue to grow, but I don't forsee the Spanish language replacing English in the state at all. At most I would expect East Texas to become more in line with the rest of the state's demographics, but there will always be a strong Anglo influence here for the same reasons Hispanics move here: a porsperous economy, low cost of living and relatively high standard of living.

If people spoke Spanish, hardly anyone from Mexico would understand you.

It will not be number 1, but it is more and more important to become bilingual. Look at Europe, their kids speak multiple languages. Nothing wrong with learning both. Might be interesting to see Chinese become the world's next language.
