Kinky Friedman has dropped out of the governor's race and will instead seek the Texas Ag Commissioner's post. There goes the most palatable Democrat for me. Guess I'll be turning in my "independent" badge and voting for Hutchison in the primary.

Since Kinky has such a love of animals, with his Utopia Ranch where many who were about to be euthanized find refuge, I think his decision makes sense. As much as I like him, I realize that his chances of becoming Governor were slim to none.

Considering that Kinky said yesterday that his views are aligned with those of Bill White and Farouk Shami, are you sure you weren't just dazzled by Kinky's one-liners?

I realized that Kinky had no business in public office when I saw how dreadfully he performed in his first debate.

I'm happy to hear that. I like Kinky and all, but he would have spoiled Bill White's chances, and there's too much at stake in this election.

Not quite. I haven't heard either Shami or Bill White say anything about direct initiative and referendum or constitutional reform. I&R in Texas is a joke. The only initiatives that make it to the statewide ballot are the ones the plutocrats in Austin pass.
