I'd say so. Good, friendly country folks and if you like to fish, Lake Fork is one of the best crappie lakes around. Canton is not very far and first Monday trade days can be fun. It's pretty countryside and I think you'll like it there.

I'm about 20 miles from Emory in Hunt County. Nice, quiet, rural country town. Fishing, boating, and horse farming are popular in the area. This is the only place I've lived in the US where I've had stray horses in my yard!

Property is very reasonable in the area, and property taxes are relatively inexpensive if you buy in the county. Greenville is the largest city close to Emory, excluding Canton, and both have the usual Home Depots, Lowes, Wallywords, etc.

If you want a slower lifestyle, enjoy privacy and peace and quiet, you'll like Emory.

Emory, Texas is a great place to live... small town atmosphere and friendly people... thirty minutes from Canton, Sulphur Springs, Greenville or Mineola... for more information, look at City of Emory Texas Home Page or www.emorytx.com! There is a video on the "community profile" page of the www.emorytx.com site that will let you get a first hand look of some of our businesses and the atmosphere of the area!

Default Emory

Oh how I envy you being able to move to Emory. I'd LOVE to be back home (Canton area) from this horrible place called Houston. I think you would really love Emory if (as the others have said) you like nice and laid back country atmosphere. The people are just genuinely kind around that part of the country. They will lift their hand in acknowledgment as you drive down the country roads...not shoot you the bird. ENJOY YOUR BLESSINGS!!!

I use WildBlue.net satelitte service for Internet, it's about equal to DSL, and we usually only lose connection during heavy thunderstorms.
