I have seen firsthand what it is like in minority, liberal minded, diversity schools. They are some of the most dangerous places on earth. The minority kids will rob, rape, and kill without remorse, and they often target innocent white children and white girls. Everyone heard about the school dance where 20 black and mexican teens gang raped one girl after tricking her to come outside the school?

There is right and wrong. It trully is as simple as that. And everything good about America happened because of God and his people. God bless all.

Here is the link if anyone wants proof about blacks and mexicans gang raping a innocent churchgoing girl. Friend of gang rape victim blasts school officials over safety - CNN.com And here is a picture of one of the rapists. Manuel Ortega - Zimbio

You are lumping a whole lot of issues together and calling it one thing, which to me equals narrow-mindedness. When people see in black and white, nothing changes for the better. My opinion.

There are plenty of good people with strong ethical values out there who have different beliefs than you do. You have obviously not been exposed to them, but trust me... they exist. And there are also plenty of god-loving people who are doing the awful things that you have mentioned above. Maybe broaden your perspective a little bit if you want to really understand where ugly things come from in this world.

Not to mention your terribly racist attitude towards minority groups. Isn't that something for a different forum? Thanks for making me sick to my stomach.

There is nothing racist about telling the truth. The minority neighborhoods are where the gangs are. You don't see gangs in suburban white neighborhoods that are 95% white.

I am tired of listening to the politically correct reverse discrimination racism by minorities. If the minority neighborhoods are so great, then why do the minorities want to move to white 75%+ neighborhoods. You never see blacks wanting to move to 75%+ black neighborhoods.

Strong values come from God. Any other values are only a reflection of the times, and those values are not stable, which means the those people can not be trusted to be good.

Oh, wow. And you wonder why the op wants to avoid this kind of thinking and retoric.

So minorities - 'those people' - are not Godly? If all the ghettos would just come to Jesus everything would be peachy?

Wow. Just wow.

BN919...your question has obviously been "left behind" in an effort to take the discussion elsewhere.

Good luck in finding what you are looking for!!

We are actually looking at another state for our preferred retirement spot. It is definitely hard to find non-urban spots in Texas that are more moderate in viewpoints.

I'm just ignoring it from now on. I can't believe how far out of the way some people will go to be ugly. I have quite a few Christian friends who would be just disgusted.

When people claim to have all of the answers for everyone else, it has been my experience that they end up feeling pretty ridiculous at one point or another.

Anyway, thank you so much to those of you who have posted thoughtful responses to our question! It is what we came here for, and we have some great suggestions.

As a Christian, I am appalled by good_eating's attitude. I welcome you with wide-open arms!

I think you should take a look at Richardson, a suburb of Dallas. The schools are very good, from what I've heard, and the area doesn't feel politically-charged or extreme in any way. It has a wide range of home prices while being very close to all the activities in Dallas. Granted it is much larger than what you have listed, but it's worth a look.

I hope you find what you are looking for here in Texas. Don't be discouraged!

My vote is Marble Falls. I have good liberal friends who live there and like the community. The community may not be liberal, as a whole, but they feel welcomed there. Also, the area is growing, and they need teachers.

- Wonderful schools
- Open-minded community, preferably on the liberal side
- Population - preferably somewhere around 25,000 - 50,000
- No more than 4 hours from Dallas
- Charming/not run down, with nice neighborhoods, trees, parks, and strong sense of community

I'm not sure how Brazoria fits these criteria...

I have re-read this thread, and realize that most of the suggestions (including mine - Denton!) do not fit the parameters.

How many TX cities actually fit the simple criteria - of being between 25K and 50K population - and within 4 hours of Dallas??

There really aren't that many. (I excluded a bunch that although technically meeting the population standards were actually part of DFW or North Houston suburban sprawl.)

Here are the ones I come up with...

Cleburne, Copperas Cove, Georgetown, Huntsville, Lufkin, Nacogdoches, New Braunfels, Paris, San Marcos, Sherman, Texarkana

So out of that list - which one best fits the other criteria of good schools, open-minded, leaning liberal, charming, nice neighborhoods, etc.

I'm just going on gut feeling - so I could be totally wrong - but my answer would be...
...
...
...Georgetown.

Any other nominations out of that list??
