I love Brownwood! It is one of the best looking towns I have ever seen. It is very clean and growing. Lake Brownwood is large in size, but not overpopulated. It is a great place to swim and fish. It has both the "historic" and "new city" feel to it. The houses are great. Lots of businesses and a nice hospital. It is kind of a tourist city in the summer. Great food and great shopping as well. I agree with your friend, you should certainly check it out.

After what I have just been through myself, I am glad I checked out ONE more place before I made my final decision. It won't take that long to go see.....so take a couple of days, visit your friend. You have the added advantage of probably having a place to stay...but if not, you have someone who can show you around. The advice they can give is invaluable. |

I'm hanging my hat and putting my two pairs of boots in the closet at Alamogordo, NM.
It's 80 miles north of El Paso, close to skiing, mountains and neat places to visit. It has THREE indoor pools for year around swimming as well....and the basics for groceries, medical facilities and shopping are all there. It's easy to get home via I-10 to check on my aging parents...and the real estate is much more reasonable than the northern part of the state. I wish that Alpine/Ft Davis/Marfa/Marathon and the general vicinity had skiing/snow. I dearly love that area. You can take me out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of me. I'll always be a Texan, no matter where I live. ![]() |

Brownwood is a nice town. I have a good friend in Blanket, just a stones throw north of B'Wood. You'd like it there. Very country people with manners and morals.
When do you have to make a decision on where to move? Rick |
