Default Prosper, Celina, Mckinney, Lovejoy area schools

Can anyone tell us about the public schools in Prosper, Celina, Lovejoy dist. and Mckinney area? We'll be moving to the area in a few months and are looking for a more rural type area and homes on at least an acre but need to know about how the schools compare first along with the traffic in these areas.

Lovejoy has a new high school. Prior their high school kids went to Allen High School in Allen ISD. The Lovejoy High School has no regular level high school courses. It's all pre-AP and AP which is all fine and dandy except if you have a child who needs to be in regular level courses. There are anti-Lovejoy websites out there about this. Google and you will find them. Very vocal complainers there.

Prosper built this stunning new high school in anticipation of continued rapid growth, but, of course, the growth has stalled and the new high school is underpopulated. It is very nice though.

Celina is more focused on football than most small towns. They were a football powerhouse for years.

Lovejoy area, you have good acess to Hwy 75 and great new shopping. There is some really pretty terrain in that area - trees and hills.

Prosper and Celina, you are further away from civilization - Celina futher than Prosper. They have a more rural feel to me. Of the three I would say Prosper is the most popular right now.

Where's the job going to be? You don't want to burden yourself with too bad a commute.

Thanks for the great info. - especially on Lovejoy high school. The job will cover the entire DFW area so commuting is unavoidable. Out of curiosity, how long would it take to get from Celina or Prosper to downtown Dallas, Ft. Worth or DFW airport?

Celina and Prosper are really far out there. I don't know how long the commute would be. Google says up to 2 hours from Celina to downtown Dallas in traffic and I would believe that...43 miles. Yikes! Prosper is 1 hour 40 minutes to downtown Dallas in traffic...34 miles.

Maybe others will chime in about commutes. If you google frisco online forum you will get a forum where Frisco people live and they have some posters who live in Celina and Prosper. One guy who lives in Celina works in McKinney. They used to have another poster who lived in Celina and worked near DFW and he complained about the commute constantly. Grueling, he said.
