No one likes the Panhandle?
Well, I guess I don't blame you. It is flat and dry. But, the town I grew up in, Canadian, is beautiful. The drive in with all the caprocks are really nice. |

i LOVE the panhandle. i would give anything to live in Pampa or White Deer or Fritch or Panhandle or Groom etc..........but unfortunately it is the ONLY part of Texas that pays RN's (Registered Nurses) at an incredibly low scale....i would be going back to making what i made hourly 10 years ago! i cant afford my bills with that kind of a pay cut!

I would have to say Austin or anywhere in that area of the state. While it has grown tremendously, it is still very pretty and open minded.

Houston. Without a doubt. It's like a modern baby Chicago.

I moved back to Houston from North Carolina and I am not regretting my decision. Austin's awesome, but Houston is a cheaper place to live and the average person can make more money here. I visit Austin when I get the chance and I think I appreciate the city more as a tourist, if you will, than as a resident.
People say Houston "doesn't feel like Texas." If I want to feel Texas I've got a car and I can drive out to Seguin or San Marcos or someplace like that. That feels like Texas to me. Houston, on the other hand, has a unique international vibe and people here handle diversity a little better than elsewhere in the "south." The inner city is more progressive than the city's suburban image would have you think, but not quite like Austin. |

I agree in the Houston's doesn't feel like Texas. It has a strong international vibe to it, that no other Texas city can match in my opinion.

My favorites are: Houston, San Antonio, and Austin.
