While there have been some,I haven't seen a lot of people choose Dallas. I haven't been there since I was a baby and was wondering what Dallas was like these days...

Well, after reading all through. it looks like a shutout for southeast Texas. Can't really blame anyone, though. I guess my pick would be Amarillo. There is actually seasons there!

Hmm with Texas being such a large state with so many varieties of cities this is a question with several answers.

Shopping : Dallas
Culture (arts & museums) : Ft Worth.
Party : Houston (South Beach) & Austin (Rainbow Cattle Company)
Beach : Corpus Christi or Padre Island (All of It)
Dining : Every city has a gem!!
Best Place to take a Non Texan : San Antonio
Relax : My hometown ....Waco (so I am biased there)

I think Houston easily blows Ft. Worth away in culture (museums, arts, etc.).

Hmmm... I chose small towns before. For cities, Houston is my #1 or else I wouldn't be living here. In no particular order the rest are San Antonio, Austin, Ft. Worth, and Galveston. I think Galveston is frequently underrated and overlooked when it comes to its architecture, history, art scene, and general ambiance.

Ft. Worth is neat though because it has a lot of culture for its size, plus that whole 'Wild West Texas' thing going on.
