What's your favorite city in Texas ?

I really like the D/FW area. The pace reminds me of my naitive Silicon Valley, but with less of the problems. There's also plenty of culture and plenty of variety for most folks - everything from large developments of comfy tract houses to hip urban projects. Downtown Fort Worth is a place I always love to go to as well.

The State Capital left me underwhelmed inasmuch as I didn't think it lived up to its eclectic hype, and San Antonio is a really nice, pleasant place, it just lacks some of the variety of the Metroplex. I'd still give San Antonio a second place rating.

Haven't been to Houston yet, but I hear they have really lax zoning laws which makes for some pretty cool mixed neighborhoods. I'd like to see it sometime.

Well, lets see. Having lived in Houston, here are some of the things I did.
1. Rice Village: Lived there. Lots of clubs, bars, and shopping.
2. Montrose:clubs, shoppings, resturaunts
3.downtown: wasn't much going on while I lived there, but it's gotten better apparantly.
4. Houston Zoo
5. Art Museums
6. Orange Show
7. Lots of small art galleries
8. Kemah Boardwalk
9. Old Town Spring
10. Festivals all over.
11. Ball games at the stadium
12. Check out West Gray area/River Oaks
13. The Heights: for clubs
14. Bike Riding in Memorial Park
15. The Galleria area
16. The Strand in Galveston
17. Louisiana's fault our water isn't clear. Mississippi River and all letting out in the Gulf.
18. But since I'm no "beach snob" would go anyway. Horseback riding on the beach was fun.

Did more things in these places because of day to day living. Like Rollerblading through some of these neighborhoods. Walking around Rice University Campus. Going out to clubs a lot! Shopping in the little stores in Montrose and West U. Eating at some of the resturaunts and hole in the wall places, many times after the clubs closed. Ice Skating at the Galleria. Taking boat rides in Clear Lake and watching fourth of july fireworks from the water.

Austin to drink
Dallas to shop
McAllen to eat good Mexican food then take a day trip to Mexico

Anywhere in the nill country north and east of san antonio.New braunfels;confort;bourne;fredericksburg. I also love the piney wood around toledo bed and sam rayburn.I mostly like small town and austin in the 70's but it has really changed alot and not for the better.
