True, they're both sprawled out, but DFW transport makes things more accessible, which is important for tourists.

Let's face it, even with the DFW transport options you mention it's still pretty tough to get from let's say North Dallas to Arlington. Automobile strictly required unless you want to pay $50 to $100 for a cab or something

Yeah, but you can't get through about more than about 3 neighborhoods by rail in metro Houston and its larger than DFW. They're workin on it though...

Even though Houston proper is larger than Dallas the metro area for DFW is larger than Houston's metro.. in population and slightly in area.

If you measure the distance west to east from let's say Katy to Baytown it is 50 miles (approx)

If you measure from west Fort Worth to let's say Lake Ray Hubbard in east Dallas it is 60 miles

both areas are similar in size from North to South

Here are the 2009 population figures (as per US Census estimates)

Dallas ranks #4 (6,447,615)

Houston ranks #6 (5,867,489)

SA ranks #28 (2,072,128)

Yeah, but I hope you realize that they have a much more comprehensive public transportation system in either case.

Play good block, bad block in Houston. Or rather good neighborhood, bad neighborhood. You might be in a good neighborhood but just one street away is a ghetto lurking try your luck! See how long you can play until you get car jacked then you lose.
Houston the city that needs armed police at the Olive Garden after dark, gots to love it.

Yep....in some neighborhoods the stores seem like abandoned buildings after 8.They have t board them up to keep all the"HOOD" folks from breaking in.
