Default Argyle Texas - what do you know?

Can anyone tell me about Argyle? We are moving from Illinois to Texas. it We would love to be apart of small rural community. How is the high school? (I have a ninth grader) How do people react to "newcommers"? If this is not our charming little town, do you have any other suggestions?? Thanks!

What are you looking for in a "small little town"? The high school is good. It's pleasant out here, but every year gets a little more crowded with people.

Default argyle

I guess I mean a place where you know your neighbors and have a strong sense of community. I like going to a local business and knowing people by name. Do you know if Argyle has a mix of income levels? It appears that way but do not want an area that is all wealth.

Argyle is pretty spread out. It's not like a stereotypical small town. And it very much leans towards the wealthy side.

Argyle used to be mostly farmland and ranches, now it's a place for doctors and lawyers who don't want to live closer to the city.

I drove through a few weeks ago and was shocked. As getmeoutofhere stated, it's changed a lot, and not in a good way. It had to happen, since it's too close to the teeming masses (mostly on the roads) of Dallas & Fort Worth.

I remember when there was NOTHING out there in Argyle. The drive all the way north of Haltom City through Keller and Roanoke to Denton was "boring" on 377. Another reason to move even further from DFW. You can't escape the tentacles of the ever growing population.

last I heard that is the new mecca for airline pilots--
they usually migrate to where the new "hot" area is and once they start, others follow...

and it does not have a real city center
if you are looking for town like that you might try Grapevine

We recently moved from Argyle.

Pros:
Nice folks.
The city is really trying to keep it small-townish (good and bad).
Many houses have acreage (Argyle is known as a horse community).
Good school district.
The DFW airport is fairly closeby.

Cons:
My daily commute to downtown Dallas was a major drag -- 80 miles round trip.
The nearest "real" grocery store is 10 minutes away.

I hope this helped.

Thank so all who replied about Argyle. We still want to move there, but having trouble selling our home in Illinois. We may need to rent something there, so any leads on that would be appreciated too!

If you are not a well-to-do family, I would NEVER suggest moving here. We are just a normal middle-class family, both working full-time, 2 kids, ect. We wanted the small town lifestyle, but this is NOT the place to be. There are some very cruel children in this town with even crueler parents who let the children do or say anything with no consequences. Some of these rich families let us middle-class families know we are NOT welcome here. We want out!
