Oh, wait, that's what Dallas is doing.

But seriously, yeah, I can see how that would be kinda awesome-r. Texas needs less dilution (of minds, talent, etc.) and more concentration!!
I'd like Texas to be like NYS, IL, GA, or MA.

Ain't gonna happen. Too much land! The state is simply too large for there to be just one major city. I bet there are gonna be other large cities rising up in Texas, too, it's just a matter of time.

FarNorthDallas, I think you're right. They're growing like crazy over there.

I predict Midland-Odessa and the Valley to rise and become major Texas players. Lubbock is another one as well.

I don't. I like it as is. I like that we have different cities to choose from. Just like Californians and Floridians do.

Same here. I hate how GA. and Ill. only have one city to choose from. In Texas, you have so many metro areas to choose from:

I wouldn't mind! I want that place to grow. I wish Lubbock was the size of El Paso.

Do you really want competition? Dallas vs. Houston would not exist if there was only one major city. I'm surprised that you didn't mention NYS' relationship with NYC. I read on the NYS forum that the upstaters are closer to Toronto than to NYC.

It appears as if that sentiment is common in states where there's one large metropolitan city, look at the relationships between places like, Atlanta vs Georgia and Philadelphia vs Pennsylvania. (Not that I'm trying to knock other large cities in either state....)
