Move to Corpus Christi. It is much better than anything that Brownsville or the Rio Grande Valley has to offer. There are much more things to do in Corpus Christi, and it is a cleaner city overall. But yes, avoid Brownsville and McAllen.

Default Corpus for sure

Lived in Texas all my liife, including the Rio Grande Valley (Brownsville), where I was born and raised. Have lived w/in 40 miles of Corpus for about 14 yrs.
Between the two: no doubt in my opinion: Corpus Christi.
I wouldn't live in the Rio Grande Valley again, and have had some friends who moved out because they just didn't like it.
Central Texas is nice...this is where I've been for last 25 years.
(And FYI, Texas terminology-wise....the Rio Grande Valley's (RGV) official north boundary is Raymondville (Willacy County)....RGV is usually shortened to simply "the Valley."... and even quite a number of Texans (especially if they've never been that far south) refer to places like Kingsville and Corpus as being in 'the Valley,' but they are not.
My two cents: Corpus over Brownsville any day, but Central Texas even better.
