College Station apartments
My husband and I are moving to College Station in August for grad school. WE have 2 kids and are looking for an 2 bed/1 bath with washer/dryer connections. We're hoping to pay 500 or less. We have already applied for one at 609 Turner. Does anyone know about that 4 plex or the area? What apartment/ duplex/fourplex/ management company would you recommend?

Moderator cut: realtor website
A word of caution: They do rent some properties in higher crime areas -it just depends where.
The street you are considering is in a neighborhood composed of a mix of blue collar working families and college students and old and new properties, relatively safe. I would stay away from any streets with "state" names like Georgia, etc. in College Station. College Station, in general, though, is a really nice place to live. There are lots of community activities for children and families and tons of parks.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to email me or post any other properties you are considering and I'll tell you what I know about the area.
Good luck!

hi becca,
First, good luck on your move to College Station! I am jealous......I wish I could be moving back!
Anyway, I would take a look at Hunters Pointe. They have two bed one baths for about 550 a month, and that includes internet and cable tv. It does have W/D hookups too. It is in a pretty convenient location on the corner of Welsh and and Southwest Parkway, near A&M Consolidated High School. I would certainly take a look there.

becca,
You might also consider Timer Creek. I have a friend that has lived there for the entire 5 years she's been in grad school. The complex is in Bryan (barely over the B/CS line), which means it's a bit cheaper. Also, many of the residents are graduate students and families (I haven't noticed a lot of undergrads there), which means it's pretty quiet most of the time. They also have a couple of pools that your kids might enjoy. Here's a link to their webpage, Bryan / College Station Apartments - Timber Creek Apartments, close to Texas A&M University
Good luck!

Duplex In Georgia Street, College Station
Hi there,
Me and my husband are planning to move to college station. We have a 4 year old and are planning to purchase a duplex in Georgia street(we are planning to live in college station for a while because of job reasons). Any feedback regarding the area we are considering would be really helpful.
Thanks a lot for you input.

College Station has very little crime, but the majority of the crime in the city occurs on what are called the state/city streets: Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Carolina, Alabama, Phoenix, & Detroit. Georgia is the closest to Welsh Ave. so it might not be as bad as some of the other streets. The crime there is bad by College Station standards, but not as out of control as bad areas in bigger cities.
With a young child, I might would give a few other areas in College Station a look first, but that is just my opinion. Locations just a few blocks away would make a big difference.
As far as the general area, it is convenient to a lot of restaurants, grocery stores, the Target shopping center, and several of the city's schools. It is nice on that side of town because you can travel down Welsh Avenue to get to Holleman, Southwest Parkway, FM 2818, and Wellborn which will bring you to pretty much everything you will need without having to get on Texas Avenue much. After living in College Station, you will find out you want to avoid Texas Ave. as much as possible. It gets crowded, people drive crazy, and for the next couple of years there is a lot of construction going on there.
Best of luck with your move and I hope you enjoy it there. Feel free to ask anything else you wantto find out.

B/CS Apt. HELP!!
I am searching for an affordable 1/1 apt or duplex even. I will be working in CS but am open to living in Bryan, I am looking for someplace safe, that will accept pets and under $400. I know it's a stretch but I'm making a huge move from Indiana so I have to scrape by for a while because I am taking a pretty big paycut. I have looked into Varsity II Apts. does anyone know anything about this place? Or, anything else?? Thanks and look forward to hearing from you all!!!
