Republic Tower 1 looks like a cell phone but, tower 2 doesn't.

It makes sense though, weather spires & airport beacons were very popular in the 1950's & 1960's. We even had something similar here in Tyler at one point in time on the old People's National Bank building (now called Tyler Town Center).

An old picture of that beacon lit up at night would be awesome & a rare find, if one even exists that is. Its hard enough to find a picture of the Lindbergh Beacon atop the Palmolive Building in Chicago. I managed to snap an almost perfect sky high view of it from the Sears Tower though when I was in Chicago this past April.
