"am just wondering with the new law, how will schools handle this? We are responsible for loading the kids into cars and 90% of kids over 6 do not have booster seats and are under 4'9". It poses an interesting delima."

.....one more thing for teachers to be responsible for and to get sued for....and for principals to get hypervigilant over....I can see them now - assigning teachers to stand in the loading zones with measuring sticks in one hand and a cell phone (with DPS and CPS on speed dial) in the other. Let's just hope Mom doesn't hand the kid a Ding Dong as he crawls in the front seat or she'll end up in the pen!

Yes, it is a safety feature, Mom2F. But how far should "safety-features" be mandated with the rationale that thousands of lives could be saved? There are thousands of things that can be required under that thousands of lives "could be saved". It is always a matter of trade-offs...
