Both areas of DFW and HOU seem great for you. They each offer great suburban communities without the city life. Dallas has great shopping and I'm in still in awe over how the suburb city of Frisco is developed. Picture a large mall surrounded by a nothing but multiple shopping centers filled with everything you could ever need. The developers didn't miss one thing. Dallas also has Plano, Irving, Addison, Mountain Creek, G/P and Fort Worth a short mile away for some western Texas flavor. Houston has great culture, and is more of your funky Texas flavor mixed with a little spice of Cajun. To top it off Houston is very international with the number of consulates, restaurants, and a large China Town. Beyond Houston lies the great suburbs of Sugarland, Pearland, Katy area, Cypress, The Woodlands, Kingwood and quick access to a beach.

You can't go wrong in either city but I've always felt Dallas feels more like my homestate of Colorado while Houston feels more like Louisiana. Just my perception. Unfortunately if you love the outdoors, you may not find either one attractive in the brutal summers both cities get.
South Denver littleton area was great, we visited in the summer and it was beautiful! however, we see more snow here (Close to brain head ut) then the south denver area and the wife really doesnt want to deal with snow, also, texas offers more bang for your buck housing wise, the schools are easier to get into, and you can make about the same.

However, Colorado was amazing! there were some great jobs offered and a great area with well priced housing, would you prefer co or tx to rasie your children? also CO is closer to home some visiting wouldnt be so hard

I would not consider San Antonio unless you like to live in a city that is about a decade behind the other major cities in Texas.

SA has a “Don’t Care” attitude and it does not welcome change. The city likes things the way they are and do not feel like there is anything wrong with the city. I am referring to the feel of the city, not individuals. Also, majority of the city looks run down and dirty although there are pockets of nicer areas. It is a big city with a small town mentality and some people (mostly people who are born and have lived all their lives in SA) like that. It all depends on where you are coming from.

Have you considered Austin?

Just because a city doesn't have Steel & Glass skyscrapers downtown makes them decades behind the Dallas & Houstons? lol I'm actually glad SA doesn't follow suit like other growing cities(i.e. Austin).

Whether you agree or not, it is not just about steel & glass skyscrapers downtown that make SA a decade or two behind. There are many things that SA is behind Austin, Dallas, & Houston and I keep hearing the SA natives wanting to keep things that way they are and that’s exactly what I was referring to.

SA needs to wake up and realize change needs to happen and not to accept it is mediocrity.

Lakewooder, a question -- why isn't he a permanent statue instead of this blow-up doll? Is there a reason it needs to be a blow-up doll instead of a real statue? Kind of cheesy (or maybe I just don't get it...)

You should probably expand on those "many things" since saying the "natives want to keep things the way they are" applies to virtually all metro areas, especially Austin, when describing mediocrity of a city.

No, a vast majority of my posts are normally Chicago related. I do like Houston, but I like Dallas the same as Houston. I like Fort Worth the best in Texas.

I have given Dallas credit plenty of times where it's earned it, same for Houston, I will be honest though I don't give credit to San Antonio all that much. But I can admit that.
I went overboard in accusing you of being too much of a homer and apologize. You're a good member of this forum.
