Default Give me love, Give me Texas

I am seriously considering relocation to TX. I have lived/visited pretty much all over the country and I firmly believe that TX is one of a kind-for many reasons! I would like to live in decent and thriving city/college town (I dont care to live in Orange for instance. I have had my share of living in rural United States and enough is enough). Here is the dilemma though, because of my husband's job, we need to live some where that is in the close proximity of a bunch of small/semi rural towns. Where would you say is an ideal location? Some hints and tips would be great.

Brenham is nice.

The Hill Country West of San Antonio (ie. Bandera, Junction, Fredericksburg, etc).

You may also like the area around Mineral Wells (hour west of Fort Worth) which has a beautiful lake, trees, hills, etc.

Northeast side of Houston (Humble area) ... hop, skip, and a jump to all of East Texas with DOZENS of small towns to choose from (got one every 10- 15 miles down every road)!

That's my 2 pesos!

PS : I agree, Orange is the pits ... but it is basically La.!

PPS : Might think of Tyler or Lufkin also (Tyler would be my choice!)!

Wichita Falls is nice area, with alot of nearby small towns. Has a nice university (MSU), is safe, clean, friendly, etc. Dallas about 3 hours to south, OK City about 3 hours north. Lived there for six years, and may go back! Love Texas and don't ever intend to leave again.
