Houston ISD's enrollment this year: 202,773 children (pre K through 12th grade). White students number 16,058....or 7.9% of the total enrollment.

Hispanic children number 124,859 (62% of Houston ISD enrollment); African American children number 54,879 (27%); 6,741 Asian/Pacific Islander children (3%) and 236 Native American students.

Hispanic is the population group that has increased the most in the US--not just TX--
and it is predicted to be the majority ethnicity within a few years if things keep going like they are...

Most of this is occuring in the inner cities. Suburbs and rural areas, not so much.
