Default tell me about Toledo

Hello everyone! We live in Memphis, TN (actually Germantown, a suburb) and my husband MAY have a job offer in Toledo. I would like to know anything and everything, so give me all your opinions and information please! We have a 3 and 4 year old, so I would like to know the safest place to live with the best schools. Any burbs with lots of young families? Let me know! Thanks a lot!

There are a few threads beyond the front page which opine on Toledo.and everyone's favorite bash thread (which is closed, fortunately):It's equal time for the people who don't like Toledo, but I will warn you, the thread twists and turns, and becomes confusing at times.

Good luck on your research!

For places to live, I would suggest Ottawa Hills, Sylvania, Perrysburg, Maumee, Rossford, to name a few. What side of town are you interested in? The North End is industrial with the Jeep plant. The East Side is rough. The West End would be the best area in Toledo to be although, Toledo Public Schools are not good. The 'burbs would be better for schooling unless you're interested in private school.

Be wary of the responses you get..For some reason Toledo really polarizes people on the Ohio boards..People either hate the place or believe its utopia, USA stemming from whatever agenda they want to push forward. Its hard to predict how you'll like the place but the places mentioned above are all good places to live in Toledo.

Walbridge is a nice, affordable little town in a good school district. Right off 280 and an easy commute to most points of interests in the area.

Warn you that the area is much flatter than anything in TN, but the small towns are humble and genuine, and the atmosphere is great for raising a family.

Waterville (a suburb of Toledo - just South of Maumee) is a nice small town to live in and raise a family in. Waterville Elem. and Anthony Wayne Schools in general are very good.

Well, except for us two. Being seasoned natives, I would be bold enough to say we at least attempt to be as realistic as possible about the Toledo situation.

Thanks, all of you. To be frank, I am scared to leave a place I have lived in for 25 years, so I just want to be sure to find the best place for my little girls to grow up in. My sister lives in Columbus, but doesn't know much about Toledo. For what it's worth, my roots are in Chillicothe and I am a buckeye fan! (Even though they beat Memphis in the elite 8)
