Not off topic at all! The absolute extent of my knowledge of Quimby's is that a friend of mine knew what it was and was really excited to hear Toledo was getting one.

I KNOW. I never get to go to Downtown Latte. I work a lot and dont have time to go downtown much during the week. However if they were open later, I would probably be there all the time.

Im a night owl who would appreciate if more coffee shops were open really late. I usually wind up having to settle for Starbucks on Airport or at Westgate.

And welcome to the forum. You didnt even stray off topic of downtown. Youre fine

I just thought of something amusing.

We should probably just go with Opal Coveys idea of turning Toledo around by building an amusement park downtown.

Yep, that looks like the one. I think I'm going to give it a try soon.

Was just over by the Triangle Building, and I'm excited about it. When I saw they were blasting the brick to take it to it's original red, my basic thought was "well the dark brown had it's own charm, I'm not sure I would've changed it." But after seeing half of that side all cleaned up, I'm really impressed by the difference it makes. The lighter color really makes the detail in the facade pop now. The accents around the windows and the recesses in the brick really stand out now, whereas they all just blend together in the dark brown sections. Now I'm even more excited at the prospect of this same process being done to the Berdan Building, because that one looks like it'll have even more nuances to showcase.

We actually used to have one! Had a casino and a roller coaster along the riverside a century ago. Now we're getting the casino back, so she isn't actually too far off!

*please note: I do firmly believe she's... uh... "unique," and don't actually support the building of an amusement park downtown. Or anywhere in Toledo. Unless, of course, we picked up Cedar Point and relocated it...

We would need absolutely no less than like 100 acres, preferably more than 300, for any kind of major amusement park that would draw people in from afar, to make any kind of substantial impact on the local economy.

I love amusement parks and at one point was an avid expert roller coaster enthusiast, but it would just make downtown tacky and would basically be Toledo giving up on itself and scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas.

She meant well though.

I know! I was down there yesterday. The difference in color is amazing. I think if they can get the Berdan renovations going the warehouse district is really going to look nice.

I was driving around downtown late last night, gawking, because im an old man at heart, and because I dont like being bothered by traffic and people pushing me to drive faster when im trying to look at a building or something.

I got so giddy thinking about the amount of potential there is. I was like borderline euphoric excited just imagining what could go in this building and that building, etc.
Like the rest of the stretch that Frickers is in, towards Washington. The whole backside of Jeds along Washington. Hannons Block. Berdan Bldg. Triangle Bldg etc. Too many to think of. That was all just the Warehouse District too. Not even mentioning the central Downtown area and Uptown areas.

Ive been really interested in the area by the Oliver House, Central Union Station, Owens Corning, as of late.....I dont know if it has a specific name. Ive heard it called Commodore Island before. I think it would be cool if another beer brewery located here and we had a Brewery District . Toledo has a definite brewing history. Grasser & Brand (whose building still sits on St Clair right over here!), Koerbers, Huebner, and Lubeck. We still have Buckeye Beer via Maumee Bay Brewing Company (which is also located here). I personally think some new micro breweries/brewpubs would be awesome and the neighborhood could revolve around beer!

Sorry. Had to get that all off my chest and share my enthusiasm.
