Default Maumee? safe, affordable

I am moving in from out of state and need info on the Maumee area. I am looking to commute into Toledo and wonder about how well the roads are cleared -- I 75 vs other main roads into the downtown area. Additionally, would you recommend Maumee as a safe and affordable place to live?? Looks good on paper but......

Maumee is pretty safe, and relatively affordable. If youre going downtown Toledo from Maumee, youll most likely take the Anthony Wayne Trail (Rt. 24) in. Unless you live on the outskirts of Maumee in which case maybe 475 and 75 would be faster. Theyre both big roads, the AW Trail is a pretty easy way to get downtown. I wouldnt worry about roads being cleared. You would most likely be taking one of these main roads and main roads are the highest priority when it comes to snow plowing.

Not to poke and prod, but why is the trek to downtown of particular interest to you? Do you intend on working or spending lots of time down there? My point is maybe you would consider living downtown if thats the case?

Maumee and the other suburbs of Toledo are fine. I75 and the other roads will be dicey when the weather is bad. These roads are usually cleared by the afternoon.

Maumee roads are cleared faster than anyplace in the metro. The city is small land-wise, and is the junction of several major routes. I spent 18 years growing up there and we probably got a grand total of three snow days during that time - only when a major blizzard blew in one year.

Default Thanks

thank you for your responses. I will consider the Maumee area when looking for housing.
