According to the Blade, the famous/ infamous housing projects, Brandt Whitlock (sp?), prominently seen from I-75 near downtown are slated for demolition. It appears as though they have been vacating the units over the last year or so. The origional structures were put up in the 1930s. They are planning a much smaller senior only structure there. I am not sure what impacts this will have, but I suspect that the area around the Erie Street Market will have less of an image problem. (the decaying projects were just on the other side of an over pass from the market.) This is not verified, please post any factual accounts... but ... I have heard some talk about the housing authority having purchased cheap foreclosed apartment complexes around the outer-belt for the displaced residents from the complexes that have been closing up from decay around downtown.

The investment company based in China has been given the go-ahead by city council and seem very eager to develop the Marina District on the East side of the river downtown. See also other threads.

The Triangle building located in the Warehouse district is very obviously progressing quickly towards completion. The framing appears to be completed inside. That used to be quite the eye-sore.

The casino is progressing rapidly and will soon be completely closed in. The front facade's design is starting to become apparent.

The Reynolds Corridor may be headed towards another scandal. According to the City's online records... a 600K+ emergency grant was issued (unanimously) for The First Church of God (Collingwood and Cherry) (Rev. Culp) to make up the difference so that they could begin work on converting an abandoned hotel into a senior living complex. The Church told the City that it would be opening this summer. No work has yet been done, but the Church does have a new electronic marquis... The Church formerly had planned on making the hotel into a homeless shelter "The Dreamplex" The signs for the dreamlex are still up and they haven't even paid their over-due taxes, according to ARIES. If you are visiting Toledo... please, please, please, don't get off the Turnpike at that exit.

What other developments are going on around here?
