Bowling Green is a good school, but it is not for everyone. There aren't necessarily any bad academic programs here, but ther are some where you could find better at other schools. Ohio has a lot of options for public college so I would definitely encourage you and your girlfriend to shop around. I will say that Bowling Green gets a little bit of a bum rap because of those who party too hard and sleep around too much. There are people here who are a little more laid back and enjoy other things, you just have to look for them. I liked that Bowling Green is a residential campus. This helps you to get to know more of your classmates. The classes are smaller and I don't believe that the material here is any easier or harder than at other Ohio universities.

People here are generally nice, I canvassed for Barack Obama's primary campaign and nobody was rude to me, even if they were voting for Hillary Clinton. I will reiterate what many other have said about the landscape: completely boring and flat. Enough said. It's a smaller city and there is not much pollution. The thing I would tell you to steer clear of is the pig farm. It may not necessarily be pollution but if you are like me and didn't grow up anywhere near a farm, it may be hard for you to get used to the smell. A lot of the people residing in the town who are not University faculty members are older, conservative (not necessarily politically), blue-collar, Christians.

Part-time student jobs are difficult to find during the summer because many students are residing in their hometowns so business is slow. There is a decent availability during the school year though. I am not sure about real jobs though, I have yet to graduate and look. All-in-all, it's a good place to go to school, however I would not recommend it unless you are somehow affiliated with the university.

Ah, good old B.G.!!! This is a great town, IMHO. How you will perceive things depends on where you move here from. Moving here from PA back in the 90's, I found B.G. to be very friendly. I was immediately taken with the friendliness of this town; the ready smile and willingness to help in retail stores, and the smiles on faces in this pleasant college town. As far as climate, the weather is not bad at all compared to Northeastern Ohio or PA. Little or no lake effect snow, and lots of clear and sunny days in the winter. Only 40 inches of snow, on average, a winter!!! The worst thing, as far as weather, is the wind in the winter. The wind blows across the open fields, and can really whip things around. Summers are a little hotter than Northeast Ohio as far as daytime highs, but you usually have the cool nights, and 85+ degree heat is the exception.

If you like to swim, boat, or fish, Northwest Ohio is a great spot. Lots of nice Lake Erie beaches, and lots of little lakes all over the place formed when the swampland was drained. I used to live in an apartment built around one of these lakes, and it had a little swimming beach, fishing, and ducks in the summer. In the fall, we had tons of geese. In the winter, you could ice fish if you wanted, and it was very beautiful to see the lake frozen over.
