Undesirable neighborhoods in Toledo, OHIO (Ottawa Hills, Ottawa: for rent, condos, crime rate)

I want to know if the Orchard Street residential area, specifically the 700 block, is a safe neightborhood in Toledo, OH. My daughter is planning on renting there and I don't believe it's a safe area. Lots of abandoned houses very nearby and worried there may be a high crime rate there. I need to know a.s.a.p.

That address is in the Old South End. It's definitely not the safest area of the city, but it's not the worse either. My perception (and it's nothing more than that) is that it would rate a 3 out of 10 (with 10 being the safest neighborhood and 1 being the worst).

It's not the best area, but I've seen worse. That area certainly wouldn't be the first place I would choose to live unless it was around Birckhead place.

I am assuming these are college aged women? The University of Toledo has a commuter office located in the bottom of the student union which carries listings of home/condos/apt for rent.

I found my condo last Jan through them and couldnt be happier. I live approx 1.5 miles from campus in Ottawa Hills, many think "oh Ottawa Hills, thats too expensive", not so. We have a 2bdr, 1.5 bath, washer/dryer, dishwasher, patio, carport, and a pool in the summer for $690.00 a month. I normally ride my bike or walk to class and have never felt unsafe here.

I highly suggest looking elsewhere than the area she is looking at; I lived Downtown and was followed home from getting takeout one night, had the cops accost me as I was waiting for the bus to school at 8 a.m, had my storage unit in my complex broken into 2x, and a myriad of other issues. If they insist on living there...invest in a whitsle and some good pepper spray just in case.
