Going to be driving thru the area on our way to Chicago. We may stay a day or 2 in Erie, PA, so not sure how much time we'll have, but it looks like the area would be a nice to stop. We are considering stoping for a few days on the way to Chicago or on the return trip back to Maine.

So we will be in the area for a few days in September, and we are wondering about a few things.

- Little Italy or other ethnic areas (Polish, Germany…) Good Deli / Grocery Shops
- Water Front Hotels
- Yarn Shops
- Candy / Chocolate Shops
- Bakeries
- Any walking paths
- Country Fairs
- Botanical gardens
- Museums
- Points of Interest

I can't speak to the shopping, but the Toledo Museum of Art, the botanical garden, and the 12,000+ acres of Metroparks are worth a visit.

Thank you, some great options to add to our plans.

Weird request, do you know of any Springs along the road side where folks stop to fill up bottles of water? We have several in Maine and many more in NH and VT, if you know where they are

Northwest Ohio is pretty flat, so not the most likely place for natural springs.

You might want to check out Sauder Village at Archbold.

You can check at least three or four of the items off your list in a one day stop. There are some other points of interest in the area too. There is a turnpike exit right close by.

When I was growing up, there was a flowing spring on the south side of US 20 just a little east of Fayetteville where people would sto and fill up water jugs. I don’t know if it is still available or not.

Enjoy your time in the area.
