We have the same problem here in Louisiana but it's starting to look like things are beginning to change as the older voters stop voting and the newer voters get fed up. We've had one former governor end up in federal prison, three former insurance commissioners end up in prison, one representative who may end up in prison for bribery, and several others who should be in prison for life for all the crimes they committed. They were also Democrats, though in our state there's not much difference between Republican or Democrat since some change parties at the drop of a hat. We finally got term limits on our state legislature but they put a loop hole so that they could switch from Senate to House and back again when their term limit goes into effect. Thankfully, some are taking notice and doing the right thing. Too bad the ones doing the right thing don't include our state capital and New Orleans.

Hey Sailordave,
I know what you're saying about politicians who change parties at the drop of a hat. The aforementioned mayor of Toledo, Carty Finkbeiner, has been Republican, Independent, and, most recently, Democrat. Not being a Dem in Toledo is almost certain political suicide, so he flipped and flopped until he joined the party that blue collar union workers are willing to support. Sadly, even the Dems in Toledo can't seem to get along, so Toledo currently has the "A team" Dems and the "B team" Dems who consistently fight amongst themselves, just to make sure that nothing gets accomplished in spite of Toledo being a city that is almost completely controlled by one political party. There goes the argument that bipartisan political bickering causes nothing to get done, you can still accomplish that with one party if you just know how, lol.
Hey, I have been hearing good things about your governor down there. He looks to be someone who will almost certainly move on to bigger and better things. Maybe shake up Washington a little bit? I hope so.

I have had a very nice life in Toledo.I have told many people I've worked with about the good things and even what I would call great things about my town.Is it perfect of course not. I don't think there are to many cities this size without something to complain about. We were heavy industry and still are to a great degree. But I see some changes comming and believe we can prosper in new areas. There are people who find it easy to sit and ***** and thank God there are those who work for change. Those who are looking for that perfect place.....go for it. I have worked for 45 years for many people from all over this country, even from many other countries. Most of these people were highly educated and when asked they told me they were very surprised by many of our neighborhoods, parks, shopping ,cost of living and the things that create a city thats good to work in and raise a family.Well I know that the young folks need to have a city that provides excitment .I am not sure just what that means . We are not all things to all people. So yes the city will lose some people. But if your not happy then you just pack up and find the place that supplies you that life. But to all you people here in my town ,know that for the rest of my life I will work to spread the word on the good and work to change what can be changed to be better. I,ve seen some leave only to see them return later when they did'nt find utopia. So to those who go ,I hope you find that dream. But. if you return, I'll wellcome you back to what I believe will a town that is going forward.

Best post I have read on here since being a member. You should read my post about "Postive things Toledo." Its a new thread, just look for it. Toledo is so underrated its not even funny. The future is so promising for this city, and it really does have quite a bit to offer for a city of its size, hopefully soon people will realize this.

Since you think its a great city, I really don't understand why you're opposed to it having its own sub-forum.

Just because it doesn't have a sub-forum does that take away from the true greatness that Toledo has to offer.

Well, no - of course not. I just don't understand the opposition to Toledo having its own forum. What difference does it really make? It's not as if Toledo would be stealing the limelight from other sub-forums.
BTW, don't mistake my statement as an indication that I think Toledo is a bad place. Not at all. It's just that I would assume since you sing its praises, you'd be all for encouraging it to have it's own little place here in the CD realm.

True, and btw, I didn't want to sound like I was getting rude with you, so don't think that I was mad or anything.
Personally would rather it have one than Dayton or Akron, they fit in more with Cleveland/Cincinnati. You know...

Oh no no no....I didn't think that. I likewise didn't want to sound offensive. That whole " you can't hear the inflection in my e-voice" thing....

For a state like Ohio, I think it would probably be easier to have a Southwest Ohio section that includes - well, SW Ohio...Cincinnati, Dayton, and all the various places of the region. Cincinnati and Dayton will be one whole big megalopolis soon anyhow. And the same thing with Northeast Ohio for Cleveland, Akron, Canton and Youngstown. Capital District/Central Ohio could have it's own place for Columbus, Northwest Ohio would be for Toledo and its metro. The various other parts of the state could be labeled accordingly, or simply remain part of the main Ohio forum.

Yes, I know, and I was thinking about this yesterday after I left my comment about Toledo. Ohio has so many cities all across the state, they are not all located in just one area of the state. The three "C's" all could have their own forums like they do, but add the smaller medium sized cities that are close by in with them.
LOL yes and the whole "you can't hear my voice" always makes me wonder what people are going to think. I never am mad on here, but you never know what the other poster might think.
