TOLEDO AREA - Best Upscale Family Neighborhood
HI!
I am going to be moving from Boston to Toledo OH.
I am selling my house in a very desirable area, and will have approx $700k to spend.
Where is the most upscale area to live.
I am not trying to be stuck up, but will have a lot to spend (for the Toledo area).
I have a family and am a professional business person.
Thanks for your candid response!

What kind of home are you looking for? 750K could mean a penthouse downtown or a country spread in the burbs....How long have you lived in Boston? I always wanted to go there...

Hi -
Well coming from Boston to toledo you will definitely get more for your money!!!
There are lots of nice upscale developments in the toledo area -
Perrysburg is a good city with good schools - there is a new development called Riverbend which has beautiful homes, also in Perrysburg is the Sanctuary(i think) - big homes.
Sylvania is a good are - twelve lakes is nice and there is also a new development built around very mature big trees called the Northwoods, the homes are gorgeous -all custom top of the line.

700K to spend? That will get you at least a 4,000 square foot mansion in Toledo. I would recommend Perrysburg, maybe a riverfront property with some land. Ottawa Hills is nice, but its surrounded by higher crime areas.

Can I assume that Sylvania and Perrysburg are newer houses, and Ottawa Hills is older homes?
I live in an older house now, 1930s, and wouldnt mind the "old charm" of that style.
Any other thoughts on Ottawa hills?

You will live like royalty in Toledo. Ottawa Hills is the highest priced area. It dosent have alot of crime and alot of the "whos who" lives there. It was even rumored actor Katie Holmes was checking out a house there to be near her family when she visits. Im poor and live in the city so I dont know much more about the place, they pay good money to keep people like me out.

I hear Tom and Katie actually have a home there now, but yes, Ottawa Hills is the "exclusive" part of Toledo.

YES !!! At your price range homes in sylvania/perrysburg are new or fairly new whereas homes in ottawa hills will be a bit older.....
I know Ottawa Hills is more like a village within the city of toledo if Im correct. I know the schools are top notch -
Parts of it are near the University of Toledo as well
