A good friend of mine tried to sell a very nice home in BG. It took him 18 months and he had to drop his price more than 30% to get a sale. He, and every college educated person I know who moved away from the area, would never dream of moving back. Toledo, the mother city of the area is one of the worst in the country. Toledo Express airport is down to one commercial flight a day - I am not joking. If you want to fly to Toledo you have to fly into Detroit, a good two hour drive from Findlay. If you MUST live in Ohio, go to Columbus. Your kids will grow up someday and say to you, "You moved from Colorado to Northwest Ohio. What were you thinking?!" You have been warned.
Since I lived about 10 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport in MI and I live on the Northeast side of Findlay, and we fly a lot, I know the drive is an hour and 30minutes not 2 hours.

And really, Findlay is not bad at all. I can't speak much to the public schools, but we really like St. Michael's school for our kids. Great teachers and staff. Nicely sized for a Catholic grade school-- at about 600 pre-k -8th.

The shopping here does suck, but I have found if I WANT something I'll never find it at the Findlay Village Mall, but if I NEED it I will.

As newcomers to the community we have found it somewhat closed. People need to know that you know someone. I don't like that aspect at all. Once people know who you know, it can be quite nice.

We have kids age 8, 4 and 2 and we have made a very smooth tranistion, with our 1 year anniversary at the end of the month. I like it MUCH more than I ever thought that I would.

Without trying to sound like a jerk I have to say NW Ohio is much better now that you live in Colorado.

LOL certainly agree!

And Colorado is overrated. Cost of living is too high.

My sentiments exactly!! NW Ohio is a fine section of our great country, nicer than many, many other places I've been. I've lived in NW Ohio as well as several other locations, and NW Ohio compares favorably to all of them.
