Default Can a Toledoan break down the city for me?

Please give your honest input:

Where is the most affluent area of Toledo?

Where is the safest middle class town?

Which town has the best public schools?

Where is the most crime-ridden area?

Where is the most polluted area?

Thank you.

From a former Toledoan/Watervillian 0f 25 years (my opinion only):

Most affluent area: Ottawa Hills & Sylvania
Safest middle class town : Waterville or Perrysburg
Best public schools: Anthony Wayne or Perrysburg (maybe Springfield too?)
Most crime-ridden area: North area and Broadway area (old South end)
Most polluted: East side or North area

I haven't lived there in some years, but do go back to visit family and friends, so these are my perceptions as an outsider.....people who still live there may have some different opinions based on day-to-day living now.

Where is the most affluent area of Toledo?

Ottawa Hills, Perrysburg along the river

Where is the safest middle class town?

Waterville or Bedford Twp., Michigan. Perrysburg is wonderful but I don't know if I'd call it middle class. It can be pretty swanky.

Which town has the best public schools?

Ottawa Hills has the highest test scores and many of the graduates attend prestigious universities. Perrysburg, Anthony Wayne, and Sylvania schools are also said to be pretty good.

Where is the most crime-ridden area?

The inner city, the Old North End (area north of downtown), the Old South End (south of downtown) and the East Side (across the river)

Where is the most polluted area?

The North End has a lot of leftover pollution from the factory heyday in Toledo back in the early to mid-20th century. The East Side has several oil refineries that smell and pollute the air.

Most affluent area hands down is Ottawa Hills....

The safest middle class town to me would be either Waterville or Maumee, maybe even Bedford Township. I would say Perrysburg, but someone was just killed there this morning.

However, Perrysburg I would say has the best Public schools along with Sylvania.

Most crime-ridden is still the Northside and East Side, but other areas in Toledo are quickly becoming crime-ridden especially now with the police layoffs and rising unemployment rate and foreclosures.

Most polluted? Can't really narrow it down to just one area Toledo has alot of polluted areas, but to me mainly the Northside and the Eastside.

1. In the city proper it would be either in South Toledo along the Maumee River and south of Glendale (river road area) or Old Orchard close to UT Main Campus. In the Metro area I would say either Ottawa Hills, Sylvania, or Perrysburg.

2. In the city proper either West Toledo or South Toledo (south of Glendale east of Reynolds or south of Airport west of reynolds). Any of the suburbs are really safe.

3. From what I've heard Ottawa Hills, Sylvania, Anthony Wayne, and Perrysburg are all great. There really aren't any bad suburban schools, some are just better than others.

4. Central Toledo is probably worst (area around St V's), the Old South End next, and East Toledo after that.

5. East Toledo is probably the most polluted and North Toledo would probably be up there as well given all the brownfields.

Perrysburg swanky? You must be joking. It is definately upper middle class, way upper in many places. I lived there 17 years until last year. Perrysburg is great, except for the winters of NW Ohio

I'm wondering if you misunderstood what I said and thought I meant "skanky". "Swanky" is a compliment and means nice and upscale:

swanky definition | Dictionary.com

Perrysburg is my favorite place in the entire Toledo Metro area and I definitely wasn't putting it down.

YUPYUP419 is on a distinguished road
most affluent: the Quarry, Ottawa Hills (only if you're white though, im not joking), and Stone Oak

most crime-ridden: probably the north side, like Collingwood, and Cherry Street by Central Catholic; the east side is too there's alot of stabbings, shootings and robberies there. The old south end has alot of crime too but the east and north are the worst
