Default Great Green Houses in Northwest Ohio/Toledo

I am looking for a great green house in the greater Findlay area, but would be willing to drive anywhere within an hour. Any suggestions? I have tried Lowes, Meijer and Wal-Mart, but they don't have the more unique perinnials that I am looking for. Tried DeHaven's in Findlay and they are ridiculously expensive.

We have a couple up here in Williams County that are just small, local greenhouses that started basically as hobbies for the owners and have some plants I haven't seen in the big box stores. They start their own seeds in their little greenhouses rather than having them shipped in, so getting there early gives the greatest selection. Fritsch Farms, northwest of Montpelier, Farmer Joan, between Bryan and Montpelier, and April's Greenhouse, south of Bryan are a few. Orchard Hills Flowers and Ferrell's Lawn Service, both just west of Bryan are a couple of others (regular year round businesses) that come to mind. And I did drive from Bryan to Findlay once years ago in an hour when I had to get to the credit union there after work to sign some papers before they closed. Good luck in finding what you want.

I'm looking for Verbascum--also called Sweet Mulleins-- and they want $12 a pot at DeHaven's here in town. Back in MI at my favorite greenhouse they are $6.50 a pot. I'm looking for about 12 of them, so you can see why double the cost isn't working for me.... But boy what a neat plant it is. Beautiful! Long stalk with pretty little flowers going all the way up with buds that are perfect purple pentagons!

vroomster is on a distinguished road
The Whiteford Greenhouse on Whiteford Road (between Sylvania & Monroe in Sylvania) is nice. Haven't been there in a while so maybe call about the specific plants you're looking for. They do have a big variety.

So my mom is in town and I seriously need some color in front of the house-- especially with the new mulch. Everything looks so brown...

So after trips to Lowes, Meijer and Dehaven's previously, we try Brinkman's and Village Green in Findlay. Nice enough stuff. No great deals. Nothing that knocks my socks off.

I do a web search and we decide to try Stratton's Green House, just a touch south of Bluffton.

IT WAS SPECTACULAR!!! It was the kind of green house we had back in MI and it was FABULOUS! It was huge-- it just went on and on and on! The people were super nice-- Mrs. Stratton and her son. They put plastic down in the trunk of my car and the loaded it for me!!! And did I mention that I got 12 great tidal wave petunias for $56 and 2 for free with the coupon from the website! Gosh I liked this place!!!

And now that we have evaluated, we'll go back tomorrow and buy 26 more! What a GREAT place!
