Looking for Great Parks from Findlay to Toledo
I have 3 kids, ages 8, 4 and 2. We are always looking for a park worth going to. Any suggestions?

New Construction from BG to Toledo
Does anyone know the construction status on the drive up north on 75? My parents are staying the summer and Metro Detroit and we are wondering if they will have to battle the orange barrels all summer?

I was planning to put this as a reply to your PIB thread. For a daytrip sometime, you might want to look into Sauder Village at Archbold. They have a number of special days with activities for the kids, but just about anytime there will be plenty to see and do.

Great thanks! This is our first full summer in OH, so we are always looking for cool things to do!
We tried the Wilds, just outside of Zanesville last weekend too. Oh boy, Put-In-Bay on Sat and Zanesville on Sun, and I wonder why my kids wanted to Bowl, putt-putt and go to the pool on Mon.... We set the bar TOO high!
The Wilds was nice-- a lot different than the Drive-Thru Safari in Port Clinton-- with it's focus on more on conservation and breeding endangered species.
It was expensive and a LONG drive from Findlay, but worth the trip-- once. I don't think we'll make the drive again anytime soon. But if you are in the area, it's worth a visit!

Farnsworth Park in Waterville, Sidecut Park in Maumee, Oak Openings Park in Whitehouse, and Wildwood Preserve in Toledo are all wonderful Metroparks with playgrounds, hiking trails, and picnic areas with plenty of wildlife to experience to get your kids in touch with nature (or More nature, since you've already been doing that! lol). I love parks and am glad that I took advantage of them there (for free) when my son was little. Down here, you have to pay to go to parks!

the Toledo Botanical Garden is pretty impressive with all of its flowers and its geese and ducks. When I lived in Findlay during my college years, I loved to visit Riverside Park off of Main Cross and RiverBend Recreation Area out in the country past Brinkman's Country Corner. Both have nice trails and playground areas. Riverside Park has a pool for the kids. Also, Litzenberg park on 224 going towards Ottawa is a nice place. Some great trails, wetlands, etc. They even have horse riding trails there.
Off topic, if you live in Findlay you must try Wilson's hamburgers (they're on Main Street in downtown, across from the Marathon building) along with some Dietsch's ice cream on Main Cross kind of by the court house. Hope that you and the lil ones have a great summer enjoying the parks of NW Ohio.

We found Riverbend last summer and that is the park of choice at our house! And Riverside is good too.... We like watching that little waterfall. My older daughter doesn't like the pool though-- I think that it is too close to the tree and there is a lot of tree debris in the water.
Haven't been to Wilson's yet, but enjoy the story of it. Apparently it was the model after which Wendy's was CLOSELY made.
Dietsch's rocks! I have friends from MI who know Findlay because of Dietsch's....

All the metroparks in the Toledo area are top notch. Sidecut in Maumee and Farnsworth in Waterville both have great views of the river. Wildwood has a cool elevated wooden bridge that winds through the woods. All of them have walking / bike trails that go for miles.

Maumee Bay State Park has a nice boardwalk out over the marsh that is kind of nice. Good place to see everything from deer to butterflies, and you can bring a stroller.
Oak Openings in Maumee is nice as well.
