This thread is ancient and the post that revived it was both racist and non-constructive, but I'd like to take the opportunity to warn people about a traffic sting.
Don't run the 'no turn on red' sign at Byrne and Dorr. It doesn't matter if it's 3am and you're the only car on the road. There's a good chance that an unmarked, jet black TPD cruiser will be waiting just out of sight to bust you. $135 ticket in traffic court. Apparently, it's been running for years.
Since I found out about it the hard way, and make a point not to run it anymore, I noticed that quite often there's a cruiser sitting right there just waiting for people.
I tried calling the higher ups about changing the sign to 'during peak hours' like some cities have, but their reason for not doing it was that the light at Dorr & Secor wouldn't change any sooner, so it didn't give drivers turning onto Dorr any advantage to go sooner.
It's basically just a big traffic sting / revenue generator for the city. 2 points raised my insurance $100 per half as well.
