I didn't find a similar thread so here it is a place to discuss rare tornadoes that hit South America (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay)

G1 - Xanxerê segue sem luz após tornado derrubar mais de 300 postes - notícias em Santa Catarina

It's in Portuguese but I'm gonna translate main parts:

"A tornado knocked down over 300 lampposts in Xanxerê, a city of the Brazilian southern state of Santa Catarina, according to local power company Iguaçu Energia. Power masts have also fallen down. Until this evening, the town remained out of power as well as 14 others.

The tornado killed 2 people, injured 120 more and left a path of destruction through much of the city.

As there were no measurement devices to that kind of phenomena nearby, a Fujita classification is only possible by damage caused. It's estimated that it was a F2 or even a F3."

Here you have some pics and footage of the local:

Tornado hitting the town

Aftermath - Rooftops tore down

Aftermath - Wood frame house lift off foundations.

What do you think about? It was a F2? Many people here think it was a F1 but I'm not so sure of it.
