Some Supercell and Tornado activity recorded just north of Melbourne today...infact numerous tornadoes and funnels recorded today in Victoria.. see this thread:

That's the Eastern 2/3rds of the U.S. in Spring & Summer lol.

Not too rare in northern Victoria I guess, they seem to get alot of storms so you'll get some of these supercells mixed in with 'em, but you won't see these in Melbourne due to the storm slaughtering seabreezes and cold fronts.

Tornadoes are a rare event in Oz.
Ironically reading one of my son's natural disaster books, Melbourne has copped a couple of bad ones in the last century, with fatalities recorded.
More recently there was one up in Lismore NSW a couple of years ago.
Never seen one myself, though my wife claims to have seen one at her family's Hunter Valley farm as a child, more likely a whirly whirly.
