"Jim B" - yes, Canadians "tapping their feet in anger" and voicing their concerns, particularly to their elected officials, WILL make it move faster. I am afraid you have some serious misconceptions about how their whole democracy thing works.

The people making the complaints are NOT " Canadians " YET. They are applying to BECOME Canadians.

And, if you look at my screen name............You might be better informed, about who I am.

Having worn a uniform with `Canada `on the shoulders, for thirty years, I have a good idea about how democracy works , in my country.

Australia have the same number of immigrants but the process is too fast because they don't waste Tax payer money. If 3500 lie that doesn't mean others should be punished for those mistaken.
However, let me see your comment when you have any application and it has been delayed for any reason.... My friend this is civil rules not army rules ..... so immigrants has rights just like you or like anyone lives in this country...so they have the right to get the citizenship in time.... Finally I agree that to process the application it takes time but not few months to a year to confirm they receive the application, and then another couple years to get the citizenship, also increasing the application fee by 300% is something need to be addressed.
