Wait, so this is the skyline photos thread, and the sticky is the general Toronto shots thread? I posted a bunch of stuff in the sticky yesterday, but I don't know how to get the actual shot to appear in the post.
Don't get me wrong about this development - it is tall and has more intricate and interesting details than most developments going up - but I just don't think this area needs a Square box (even if it is a tall one with waves).. I think they could have done something more extraordinary like and remember this one: the Sapphire tower!!
That would have made a statement for this area like - Yonge and Dundas eat your heart out.. Sometimes I feel that we have a fear of any geometric shape that isn't 4 right angles. Anyway maybe the actual building will be better than I expect.. so far Aura is completely a dissapointment vs the rendering.. it looked sexier and more sleak - the actual is looking like a colossal monolith!

This is a super impressive looking city. Reminds me of a Chicago but without being a Chicago. Which is like a double good.
I just wish Toronto could be located somewhere much warmer.
How do poor people live in Toronto? Like Chicago? Better than New Orleans I would think. Or is it very hard to survive in Toronto being poor? I mean does Toronto have slums with rat infested tenements?

I may get criticized but it's not really a stretch to say the poor live a lot better in Toronto than in most American cities. This is pretty much a constant for Canada vs. the U.S., and not just Toronto vs. Chicago.
Being poor in Canada or Toronto is certainly not easy but it's not nearly as bad as living in run-down or blighted areas of Chicago or any other place in the States.
The social safety net in Canada is considerably more generous.
