I subscribed to Bell internet service for almost two years. This month there are some outrageous/mysterious usages that could not be explained. For example, yesterday I was out the whole day and when I come home I have 30 GB of internet usage. I certainly was not downloading anything. My computer access the internet through wifi from a time capsule that is connected to the modem. I called Bell and they say they cannot tell where the GBs is being downloaded from. I was on the phone with them for half an hour and they just keep on saying when my time machine make back up it bumps up the usage. This is simply not true coz the back up happens on the in house network, it does not uses internet,, and I have this set up for years I never have a problem.
How else can I find out about where the internet usage was used for? What are my rights as a consumer?
Also this is not just yesterday. It started happening this month and I just caught it yesterday coz I happen to log into my account. I did not get any warning about my internet usage.
They can see all the devices that are connected to the network so I don't think my network is being used by someone else.
I would recommend getting away from Bell. I have had great service with Start.Ca. There are many other providers who offer much higher caps than 30 GB.
@limazita;
Happened to me yesterday as well.12gb downloaded he said and I wasn't even home with my laptop shut down.
and my router is not an issue. I will cancel my service since I have no contract. They also told me they didn't know
where I downloaded from which is a lie. They know everything even when you're peer to peering. One thing he said which I still have to check out is that just watching videos on youtube without downloading uses up your gbs??
Anybody know anything about that?

Of course it does. Streaming can take up a hell of a lot of gigs, just the same as downloading can.
