I'm kinda thinking the easiest place to do what you need to do is the Outlet Mall at highwy 89 and 400 interchange on your way to Barrie. That gets you out of the Toronto environs and trying to negotiate exits and such within the city proper to find shops.
Barrie itself has a plethora os shopping available provided you arrive early enough to catch them still open Sunday evening.
Buying wine in the airport would require you to sign a note using your first born as collateral.
