Boston kid;

I know that you are serious about the bike lane ideas, but please remember that for at least a few months of each year in Toronto, only the die hard bike couriers are riding, and that is in the downtown core. Wait until you have seen the total lack of bike lane use in the dead of winter in the rest of Toronto.

The day that adult pedal bike riders are required to be licensed, carry liability insurance, and obey ALL of the Highway Traffic Act, I will consider that they can then demand changes, that are paid for by all the Toronto tax payers.

As it stands now, the tail is wagging the dog. Bike advocates are quite willing to spend hundreds of thousands of "other people's money " to get what they want. How about they contribute directly to the costs ?

Oh no, that will never happen.

Firstly, I rarely use the existing bike lanes (if any) simply because they are poorly designed and almost completely merged with traffic lanes. I noticed some other cyclists doing the same thing - simply bike on the side walk. Between obeying your traffic act, city by laws and my personal safety, I'd rather have the latter even if it incurs me a fine at some point.

Secondly, using "other people's money" to get what they want? Doesn't that like apply to everything when the government levies a tax? lol. You made a strong justification defending LCBO's government monopoly and price fixing scheme by artificially inflating liquor prices, what gives LCBO the right to charge an extra levy like that and transfer my money to other totally unrelated government programs like the trillium fund? Let's have it your way for a moment, and maybe have only the beneficieries of the Trillium program fund their own health care costs. Oh, you are right, that will never happen. Let's not go down this red herring.
