I believe Chicago's rent is not as affordable as Toronto. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Minneapolis, St Louis? I think you are insane saying they belong the same league as Toronto. Toronto is considered an alpha city, along with LA/Chicago; San Fran, Boston, DC are alpha-, Minneapolis beta-, 4 notches down. St Louis is gamma+, one notch lower than Calgary.

I am sitting in an office building in downtown Minneapolis right now as I type this. It's a decent sized city with a few nice skyscrapers in the downtown area, but it is not even close to Toronto. Not even close. The entire downtown core becomes completely empty after 7 pm, to the point where you don't want to walk on the street by yourself after dusk.

Go to the Nicollet Mall area.

No. Just no. It may be nice dining and shopping area, but downtown Minneapolis is not even close to the level of activity on Yonge, Spadina, Queen etc.

The ranking is supposed to show that it is not appropriate to compare rents in Toronto vs Minneapolis and St Louis and conclude Toronto is expensive.

You need to compare apple with apple.

Sure..... I thought you lived in Cambridge. Now you seem to be an expert for Toronto and Minneapolis living.

The twin cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul have a lot going on. You just need to know where to go. Go Uptown and tell me that it is empty after 7pm

One does not to be an "expert" to know a or comment on a city. I lived in Cambridge, but somehow I can't travel to other cities? I travel Monday to Thursday every week for work, and have been to all major metros in America. This week happens to be Minneapolis. Having a "a lot" going on doesn't mean it's comparable to cities like Chicago or Toronto.

What are you comparing exactly? I go to Minneapolis almost once a month. I don't know how you can comment on a city with such authority when you seem to know so little about it.

Just, compare Minneapolis to Toronto in terms of number of pro and semi-pro sports teams and the number of people it attracts. You make Minneapolis (Twin Cities) sound like a small town. I am not saying one is better than the other. Just that both cities are comparable and appear quite similar.

I never compared Minneapolis to Chicago.

Toronto and Minneapolis are "comparable and appear quite similar." I'll let other posters comment on this.
