I'm planning a summer vacation to Canada (my first). I found a place to stay in Yorkville in Toronto. I was wondering if that's a relatively safe neighborhood. (I've been to Chicago, DC, and New York, if you want to compare).

Yes. LOL. The Yorkville area in Toronto safe (unless Holt Renfrew, Prada or The Louis Vuitton stores decide to have some epic crazy clearance sale !). Toronto in general is pretty safe compared to the other places you have mentioned. This area is a good location to stay in as it is centrally located and you will be able to get around the city easily by foot or public transit. Hope you have a great time in Toronto. Best wishes.

Yes, one of the safest neighborhoods in greater downtown.

Define safe! You could get run down by a Lamborghini, chased up onto a curb by a Bentley, potentially trip over a Gucci handbag and land on a pair of Jimmy Choo's!

It is the wealthiest part of Toronto......you will be fine! I recommend Oxley's for breakfast!
