We are in the midst of having an inground pool built. We just had the deck poured. We had asked for a broom finish, but they did salt. Half of the deck looks like salt finish that I have seen, whereas, the other looks like chipped ugly concrete. The side that looks this way is also spiky on the feet, whereas the other side is not. Does anyone have experience with this? Is this acceptable? We have asked to meet with the pool company owner and concrete company. Found out they came out yesterday, but did not inform us and we haven't heard back. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I'm a contractor and used to build custom homes. We had a job where the concrete didn't work out for a patio. It was just too hot and the concrete company couldn't pour and finish it fast enough.
IIRC, they came back a week or so later and put a concrete cap on it. Basically it's another layer of concrete on top of the existing because there's no way they will chip it out and redo it.

If you asked for a broom finish then you should get a broom finish and it's up to them to fix it.

If it's too hot they should delay the install or just bring more labourers to get it in quicker.
