People with the expectation of finding (unknown) bargains on these sales event usually end up buying tons of crap for cheap that they don't really need to start with. If you don't need a nice blender who is on sale for $20 which is originally $80, you are wasting $20 instead of saving $60 if you guy it. This is why many families of 3 or 4 always find their 2000 sf house not big enough.

Funnily people don't get it and always look for bargains. You may think "oh, I can have one of these, look at the price!" but it ends up collecting dust for years after you actually buy it.

So what you are saying is that I should buy a bigger house lol. Just kidding. I LOVE shopping, but I also insist on wicked deals on stuff I really like, unless it is something I absolutely fall in love with. It is like what people say about it being a bad idea to go grocery shopping when you are hungry because you end up buying more and less logically. If you like shopping and are casually shopping throughout the year for things then you do not feel the same pressure to just grab something at any price because you are in a rush. For example I happend to be in his mall and the Givenchy men's store was having this crazy sale (>75% certain items from last season). No man in my family knows one season from the next in any designer fashion line, but they do appreciate nice clothes. So I got each of them a differnt dress shirt from Givenchy to match their personal styles that regulary goes for $200 a shirt for $30! The only catch is that you need to know their size. I have been know to randomly call people and ask their size to help ensure the gift is a hit, rather then a miss. It usually works out, but for me this is fun. If you hate shopping this concept is really not going to seem fun for you. Please note I also HATE shopping with other people because you end up spending more time waiting or looking for the person you are with then actually shopping.

I do not just pick up anything. I got enough stuff already so it has to be something that I can use or that I can give away as a cool gift. I have never gone Black Friday shopping in the US and right now the exchange rate sucks so I am not feeling it will be worth the hassle. If I was going for some other purpose then I would certainly check it out, but I shop enough to know a deal that is really not that exciting and the holly cow they are just giving it away. Example. End of the season clearance on Halloween items regular $10 ... got it for $0.24. The items chosen are items do not expire, higher end/ good quality stuff, packages intact/no damage and I can use the items next year to give the kids I know and make this holiday a little more fun for them (....and also score some rep point for being the coolest adult ever )! Shopping as a sport is certainly not for everyone, but it does come in handy in some situation as long as you have the space to store the items and are not using credit cards. If using credit cards you need take in to consider the interest charged on the card before you make the purchase because if you actually do not have the money it might not be worth it to buy it at that time. However if the discount is large enough and the item is something you actually will require it may still be worth it (not encouraging anyone to spend above their means). I actually have all my holiday shopping done, which helps me not go off the deep end end come the week before Christmas.

I hate the exchange rate right now. If only it had been like this before I moved, when I was transferring funds from the U.S. to Canada.....

I'm planning a shopping day in Buffalo right after the holidays. Maybe.

I could never get what people liked about Target. I check it out in Toronto and Florida and did not like it. Did not find anything that much different then Walmart.

I've been looking around to see what are the best websites to shop during Black Friday that doesn't require shipping from the states, and I thought there would be much more. Apparently not :/ So far these are the top 3 that seem to pop up that has a Canadian pricing:

Black Friday Canada 2015 Deals - Best Black Friday Sales | Shopbot.ca
Black Friday Canada 2015 Deals, Sales and Flyers - RedFlagDeals.com
Black Friday Canada Deals

Has anybody used one of these sites?

All this pre black friday sale stuff is getting me confused. All these stores in Toronto had black friday events this past weekend. I already got some cool stuff at of all places Shoppers Drug mart lol that will totally tide me over until boxing day or early Jan sales (at least this is what I am tell myself right now). I got 7 bottles of perfume (good brand names not stuff names after pop stars or low quality stuff for $17.77 a bottle (the bay is selling the same stuff at $50 -85 a bottle) and then got the equivalent of an additional $30-40 back in credit from the store because they had an optimum points bonus if I spent over $75). I am pretty sure Canadian retailers are going to have online and in store sales. Frankly the dollar is so bad right now that the desire to get trampled on to get a deal is so much less appealing. Also if I drive over to Buffalo that outlet mall never has parking on a normal day. I can not even imagine trying to find parking on black friday. I think due to the exchange rate buying local this Black Friday might just be a better choice. Thanks for the sharing the websites.

Agreed - not even the U.S Target really impresses me - the Canadian one was a joke.. I usually end up buying nothing.. An overpriced Walmart so might as well just shop at Walmart and save a few bucks.

I went to a few locations in Toronto and it was over priced junk... a zellers reborn in an equally poor over prices store. I went to one in Miami or Sunrise Florida and I still did not see what the fussy was all about.
