What Are The Safest Areas In Toronto?
Could someone please tell me what some of the safer areas in Toronto are? (If possible, I'd love to live near a beach or some bike paths).

Places where rich people live - the bridle path, rosedale. Of course unless you are a millionaire you'll want to find somewhere else.
Central and Southern Etobicoke is not that bad, nor is anything along Yonge street.

About two years ago, the area around Bathurst and Eglinton was the only one in Toronto that did not have one murder all year. It's a nice, prosperous area (heavily Jewish) without being as wealthy as Forest Hill or the Bridle Path.

Leaside is also considered to be a very nice area....this is the area around Eglinton and Bayview. Any of the neighbourhoods off Avenue Road (on either side) are also quite nice. They are all very expensive but that's Toronto.
If you want to be near the Beach, the Beaches sounds like it would be your best bet. Safe and trendy but, you guessed it, expensive!

I thought the heart of Forest Hill is south and east of Bath-Eg, Spadina and Chaplin Crescent through the Forest Hill Village shopping area to St. Clair.

Forest Hill runs up to Briar Hill and north of Eglinton it extends as far west as the Allen Expressway. There are two business districts - Forest Hill Village along Spadina and the Upper Village along Eglinton.

As someone who was born and raised in Toronto but has lived in other cities both in Canada (montreal) and abroad I must say that Toronto is one of the safest big cities in the world.
Yes, we all know that the murder rate has jumped but the fact is that almost all violent crimes/murders are between gang members. Of course there are times when innocents have been tragically caught in the cross-fire, but this is not a regular occurance.
The fact is that Torontonians are blessed. The majority of neighbourhoods are completely safe. Although the safest neighbourhoods are inevitably the richest. I have lived in some very working class neighbourhoods and have never been a victim of a break-in, violent crime, etc.
As for the Forest Hill debate, Bath - Eg is Forest Hill, but is defenitely not in "the heart" of that neighbourhood.
