As someone who worked around this area for a while and walk down this same street very upset and sad for the innocent people that were killed.
No idea what really happened, but I have been a first hand witness to careless and reckless driving in this area and this is not the first time a car has ventured off the road and in to pedestrians in this area.
Horrible.
The TTC subways line is currently shut downs north of Sheppard ( the East Station). It is likely effecting GO and Via transit in this area as well as the stations are a few minutes walk from there. So if you really don't need to be in this area AVOID for the rest of the day if possible.
We'll wait for confirmation but the info that's out so far seems to point to this being deliberate in some way. Probably more than careless driving - you don't normally drive down the sidewalk for that kind of distance when you've simply lost control of your vehicle.

There is a video where he points an object at cops.
He seems to say stuff like "kill me" and "I have a weapon in my pocket".
Not likely to be a tragic case of grandpa who passed out behind the wheel.
I know. I realized that... I was just trying not to pass judgement too quick just in case.
A recall walking through that area a few years ago after people were hit ( someone also killed) by a car that went flying to the a bus shelter. This was "an accident" and it was horrible.
To friends and peers working at Sunnybrook hang in there and thank you.
Just disgusting! He deserves to be convicted of first degree murder with consecutive sentencing, but does anyone want to lay bets on him claiming mental defect?

SUCH a disturbing situation! This video is disturbing too. (And how strange... those three people walking casually behind him and down the sidewalk.) I had heard on the radio that it was a "suicide by police" ploy. Sick people.

I don't doubt you have to be mentally ill to do something like that.
I just got in contact with a family member that works in that area we were worried about. He said tgey did not tell them what had happened but put the office buildings on locked down. Another freind who works in the area said some of her coworkers witnessed it and had to leave.
Walking around the city ex on the streets of down town.... in the subway.... even in South East Toronto.... no one seems phased. No one's talking about it. It on the surface seems like business as usual. Even at work no one knew until I mentioned it except for a few people but they brushed it off just as casually as if it happend on the other side of the world.
No actual factual word on what happend yet. To be continued.
If anyone sees the video of the police office and the idiot driver you can see how clueless people are yo this type of violence in our city as they are pointing guns at each other and talking back and forth people are walking by right beside them in total confusion rather then running.
Impressed with the officer. Scary and amazing neither were shot or killed in the confrontation.
