I am not insulting the less fortunate, but stating a reality.

Putting head phones on and frowning at people is the same as an elitist sticking your head in the sand and hoping something that disturbs your fun will go away. All it really says is "I'm better and wealthier than you, so don't bother me when I have my bling on my head".
To answer the original question - homeless people might go to Toronto for the summer, but they come from all across the country to Vancouver for the winter because they have a better chance of surviving the winter on the streets there.

Well I guess the message I am giving is correct in the sense because I mean. "Don't Bother Me". I will not give money to people on the streets as many of the same people begging on street corners are literally my clients and I know first hand the money that they are getting is not going to buy food or shelter as it is already provided. They are using the money to buy drugs and alcohol as public services do not provide the extra cash for these habits nor should they.
When ends up happening is because they end up using that money to buy drugs or alcohol which is not permit on the grounds of places like shelters they end up getting turned away for the safety of others using these services until they have commit to following the rules.
Again this is not a city that lacks services to assist the homeless, but to use the services they have to agree to follow the rules. When people keep giving addicts drug or alcohol money they continue to stay on the streets rather then committing to following the rules associated with getting help.
It is really really really sad how miss informed people in the public are of these issues.
They think they are helping but giving these people change, but in reality they are literally enabling them to avoid getting the help they need.
Canada has socialist medicine but no social housing? Toronto should be homeless free. Unless of course most Toronto homeless are relapsing drug fiends who get kicked out of social housing or criminals.
